Celebrating the Launch of the Book!

This book addresses the theoretical foundations of the field of international education and the implications for practice and strategy. It considers key concepts and poses questions for discussion that make Mestenhauser’s work accessible to new readers.

The series of provocative essays, including Eva Janebová’s Challenge of Culture: The Czech Pathway to International Education, Hanneke Teekens, Hans de Wit, Darla Deardoff and many other contributors across the globe examine Mestenhauser’s influence on their understanding and practice of international education, the relevance of his work today, the transferability of his ideas across contexts, and current interpretations of the field.

The book can be ordered on Routledge.

In this video, you can hear Dr. Anne D’Angelo and Dr. Eva Janebová speaking about how Joe Mestenhauser has inspired not only them, but also many other scholars throughout the world. You can read reflections and essays in the newly published book. Anne and Eva were greatly influenced by Mestenhauser’s ideas. They are fostering his dreams and visions in their work, such as for Eva founding the Institute of Excellence in Internationalisation which provides the service for international classrooms educating scholars and university staff in being interculturally welcoming. The Mestenhauser Legacy Initiative at University of Minnesota recognizes his legacy to international education and through a collection of innovative programs and scholarship, U of M strives to honor Professor Mestenhauser's legacy of working to broaden international understanding.
